The best way to reach Komodo is by direct flight to Komodo Airport (LBJ) from Jakarta, Bali, or Surabaya with airlines like Garuda Indonesia, Batik Air, and AirAsia.
Labuan Bajo, a scenic port town on Flores Island, Indonesia, is the gateway to Komodo National Park. Once a fishing village, it now offers stunning coastal views, seafood, and island adventures.
From Labuan Bajo’s harbor, you can join a speedboat tour or liveaboard cruise to explore Komodo, Rinca, and Padar Islands, famous for their pristine beaches and rugged landscapes.
Komodo offers two main ways to dive: day trips from Labuan Bajo or multi-day liveaboard cruises. If you’re planning just one or two days of diving, day trips are a great option. For longer or more dive-focused trips, a liveaboard provides a better experience and a broader exploration of the area.
Many dive centers offer speedboat and big wooden boat trips, with two to three dives per day in both central and northern sites. Speedboats get you to the first dive site in under an hour, while larger boats offer a much more comfortable ride with breakfast, lunch and time to relax on board, but take almost two hours to reach the sites.
For a more complete diving experience, a liveaboard is the best choice, with cruises starting from as little as 3–4 days. Liveaboards allow for early morning and night dives, meaning fewer boats and more peaceful dive sites, and they cover a greater variety of locations, sometimes including the southern dive sites. With options for every budget and style, we believe a liveaboard is the best way to fully experience Komodo’s fantastic diving.
